Mona Lisa Redux

This is my submission for a friends digital art show he is going to be putting on soon in the week. The video was made to take an idea, the idea, the idea of Mona Lisa; and update her a bit, and give the illusion of conventional paint and drawing with the language and style of a digital medium,

The music is from a youtube channel belonging to "The Secession"
youtube.com/user/thesecession?feature=watch
His channel has a lot of great stuff and you should definitely check it out.

Thanks and Enjoy!!

Kinetic Typography Project (Rough Cut)

This project was made for my intermediate motion graphics class. The purpose was to dust the cobwebs off of After Effects if any and pretty much show what we know to do. After I saw the Django Unchained trailer, I had this idea on how to use the audio to promote another same name character of the same profession. Enjoy :)

Meteor Composite

In this project we were supposed to use Maya fluids and particles to create a realistic asteroid hitting the ground. Once rendered, I composited the asteroid into a still image and added some other effects to help it blend into the scene. Enjoy

Robot Composite

I have been taking composting class learning how to use Nuke to composite and in my off time I have been teaching myself to use the same techniques in After Effects to get the same outcome. Here is my attempt to take a CG character and composite him into film. Enjoy.

Sony Online Entertaiment Mentor Project

During this quarter at school, I am taking a Pre-Production class that involves both the game art students and us media arts and animation students. The game art students are building a node for their prototyping mentor in the style of Ever Quest 2 for the SOE Mentor Program. Us animation students are designing, building and animating characters to put into  the game art students node. The idea is that a group of dwarves are mining for some precious metal when they stumble upon a cave in which a Feral Rat Race have been digging out and overwhelm and kill all the workers. My job in the group was to design the Feral Rat race which is based upon Ever Quests Ratonga race which are also rats. Included are all the iterations up to this point for the project. More to come later, including weapons and other versions of armor and dress.

Material and Lighting Project

This was my first project where I had to texture a piece of geometry in Maya. I used a simple arc and a detailed texture to see if I could make it look real. Tell me what you think

3D Camera Techniques Project

This project was to use fast 3D camera for an MTV project

GANG Awards for Television

For this video, my goal was to recreate a section of the GANG Awards Show that I produced, as if it was originally made for TV. Enjoy.

My newst Zbrush Sculpt

This is a sculpture I made in Zbrush using simple zspheres to start. This isnt meant for a pipeline or for use in animation, just fun and learning to use the program some more. The idea is that he is a sort of Bond Villain type character.

My First ZBrush Sculpture!!!!!

My friends taught me how to use Zbrush which is a mock3D Sculpting program. Its funky and completely bassakward to anything I have ever used before. But its a lot of fun once you get to know the interface.

The Video Game Audio Awards: presented by G.A.N.G

So this is a video of the different assets I created for The GANG Audio Awards at GDC 12 in San Fransisco. The award show is presented by the Game Audio Network Guild that celebrates each year of amazing game audio and music. I was lucky enough to be able to build their 10th anniversary awards show and present it to Industry Professionals and Students alike. This video contains the intro to the awards, looping logo for speeches, and the nominee video for audio of the year.

A special thanks goes out to Paul Lipson, Dren McDonald, Tommy Tallarico, Clint Bajakian, Bob Rice, Alexander Brandon, Brian DiDomenico, Mike Watson, Beldon Wolson, and all my friends who supported me through this whole project. Without the help and opportunity of old and new friends, this never would have been possible. Enjoy!

Character Modeling Midterm

I have to say that today Im especially proud of my work. Not only did I do a pretty damn good face mesh, but I did it in about 2 and 1/2 hours, which for me is not only triumphant, but unheard of. The finished product is simply a wireframe shaded facemesh that was built from a 2D character of the teachers choosing. Anyone who knows anything about modeling characters knows that it is especially hard to model flat 2D characters. It was a lot of fun, and hope this means I am getting better.

Concept Piece

This is a concept for the tentacle of a leviathan that I had. Enjoy.

Hard Surface Final

For this joy of a project, we were to recreate a truck of some sort in Autodesk Maya. Here is the finished project which by the time made me much more than a novice at modeling and opened me up to the thought that maybe I can do more than just draw pretty pictures. Enjoy.

Principles of 3D Animation Final

The legendary bouncing ball, walk cycle, and relative action animation all tied into one. Without any of these animation classes wouldn't have anything to teach. So it seems only natural to showcase them all. In this project we were to have the robot take three steps, interact with the ball in some sort of way to get it to react and then have the ball bounce at least three times accordingly. I was very pleased with how this came out and I hope you enjoy.

Editing Project

This was my first Editing project and what gave me the love that I have for playing with video and audio and using them to create interesting pieces. This is a typical project of the class to get us comfortable with Final Cut Pro, and the idea of editing to video footage to audio. Once again I apologize for the aspect ratio of the project for this was another video I lost to the procrastination of not backing up files. You live you learn, and you break broken hard drives with unknown amounts of fury. Enjoy

Motion Graphics Final

So this next video was a final for my Adobe After Effects final showcasing an understanding of what I learned. The animation was a little thing Im working on, on the side. But everything else to take away is the cuts, and the use of motion graphics in the piece. If you like my designs and very basic story. Awesome.

Editing Class Final

Hello readers, I know right? Another video, so soon? Some of the work I will be posting is whatever I can bring together from previous classes and so forth not just to showcase my skills but also another way of backing up my work. Recently my hard drive decided to join the occupy movement and crashed on me. Im still slowly retrieving stuff. So without further a due, here is my final from Editing class. Our goal was to re-cut a trailer to a movie and showcase our video and audio editing skills. I apologize in advance for the artifacts in the audio, and also the aspect ratio. This along with my other videos had to be recovered from Facebook because of my hard drive crash. Once or even if I can recover the originals, these will be replaced and shiny. Enjoy.

New Kid to the Block

Welcome to my corner of all things art, animation and design. Allow me to introduce myself; my name is Shaun Wright and I am an aspiring artist, designer and editor of all things media. I currently attend the Art Institute of San Diego, and graduation is coming up close. So to prepare for the industry I intend to jump into, this blog will reflect my growth and skills as an artist with weekly drawings of various character designs, digital and traditional paintings, and also if I can swing it, there will be monthly 11 second animations and videos to showcase my editing and after effects skills. Sometime soon I will post my introductory piece for my brand new blog. Enjoy
